Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Las Vegas NV
209 PM PDT Sun Jun 22 2025

.KEY MESSAGES...

* Dry conditions will continue through the end of the week for
southern Nevada, northwest Arizona, and southeast California.

* Warming trend expected through the week, with above normal
  temperatures returning by late week.

&&

.DISCUSSION...through next weekend.

Fairly deep trough encompassing most of the Western US is keeping
temperatures seasonably cool today, with high temps this afternoon
expected to top out 10-15 degrees below normal. This trough will
gradually weaken through midweek with heights gradually rising.
Thereafter, low amplitude ridge will hold across the Southwestern
US while the storm track remains active across the PacNW. With
increasing heights in the coming days and the storm track focused
well to our north, conditions will remain dry through next weekend
with no hints at any monsoonal moisture across our region yet.

Meanwhile, with rising heights temperatures will be on a gradual
warming trend, with highs returning to near normal by midweek, and
climbing above normal by late week and into next week. Despite the
building ridge and warming temperatures, heat risk remains pretty
firmly in the moderate range through early next week, which should
limit the necessity for any heat related headlines for the time
being.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 00Z Forecast
Package...Light winds expected through Monday morning following
typical daily direction patterns. Some haze from regional
wildfires may be noticable tomorrow morning but is not expected to
result in any substancial visibility reductions. A push of
southeast winds are expected Monday afternoon with gusts of 15-20
knots before shifting to the southwest late Monday evening.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 00Z Forecast Package...Conditions at the Las
Vegas area TAF sites will be similar to those described above for
Harry Reid. Elsewhere across the region, light winds expected
through Monday morning. No operationally significant cloud cover
is forecast, although smoke from wildfires in the area could
result in areas of haze. Breezy southeast winds develop Monday
afternoon across all regional TAF sites except DAG, with gusts of
12-20 knots expected. Near DAG, winds will tend to be more
westerly.

&&

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report
any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating
procedures.
